How to attract more money into your life

Travelling throughout Southeast Asia, you would see square houses with open courtyards in the middle, with ponds that drained slowly. It took me a couple of weeks to be finally told this was part of the Feng Shui tradition.

The rain would fill up the pond quickly but would drain out slowly. If done right, money in your life would do the same thing.

We’re all living in Western houses and the likelihood we could build similar houses is slim, wonderful though it would be, so what exercises can we do to attract money into our lives? Reuters Post has the answers, here are 8 exercises for us all to practice at home.

Visualise

Put aside your derision of lifestyle coaches and motivational speakers, and actually let visualization into your life. Great musicians practice without touching their instruments, great artists paint before they pick up a brush. Create a poster with what you would like to achieve- your own dream home, a trip to Europe etc- stick it on your wall and get visualizing.

Know your limits

Know your thoughts and fears, accept them and move on. Slowly remove your old, negative thoughts from your mind and practices and you’ll find yourself in a more positive place altogether,

Practice spending

Don’t practice this with real money. Apparently, you can increase the flow of abundance in your life with this exercise, which would always be a good thing. Write a number (say a thousand dollars) on top of a clean piece of paper. Then write a list of what you would buy or pay off with the money. Do the same the next day. You’ll learn your spending patterns, and be able to nut out what your priorities really are.

Before the grace…

Be grateful for what you have. You might feel like you have more money, without having an extra cent. A lot of feeling poor is the constant need to keep up with Joneses, which apparently doesn’t make you feel happier should you achieve it.

Get the chi

Positive energy attracts positive events and people. Act as if you have fulfilled desires. Go through life as if you were a billionaire and content, as opposed to a semi-starved student or mortgage-ridden parent. You’ll attract abundance (in one form or another) if you can get some positive chi happening.

Donate

Get some perspective and donate some of your money to those outside of your bubble.

Learn to accept

Being able to accept help is not an easy thing to do, being able to accept gifts likewise. Tell yourself that people wouldn’t offer unless they were genuine, and accept it graciously as such. Apparently, in this way will you be able to accept money into your life, which is what (after all) we’re all aiming for with these exercises.

Tell the positives

Ever noticed how you meet up with friends and can only think of the negative things that have happened since you last met? That you’ve spent the last three hours telling horrible stories, instead of anything nice that you’ve come across? This is not a way to attract positive forces into your life. You’ve got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and don’t mess with Mr. In-Between.
