Saving your precious income just makes common sense. It is in your hands to get a better quality of life out of what you earn but the other side of the coin is getting more cash to manage things easier.
The majority of the time we discuss saving money here at Savings Guide but today we were hoping to open up a bit of discussion on ways of making more money, as your earnings will directly help you find ways to save more money.
How to make more money is a constant thought strain for us all and no one article can do the topic justice but here are a few pointers to get the brain juices flowing and maybe we can, with your help, add more and more to this list as we go along.
Revitalise your career
Revitalise your career, it is after all your principal source of income, so why not maximise what you know best. As they say, if you drift with the tide, you’ll end up on the rocks, so have a plan! What is the most accessible next progression in your job? What do you need to know in order to do it? Where can I get exposure to these skills? Who can I use as a mentor or a model? What further education is available to help?
Who can I talk to in my job that can help me realise my potential? Answer these questions and you will have the core of a plan. Couple this with realism and a healthy self-evaluation (and get honest input from people who know you, warts and all) and you can start to revitalise your career with resultant improved earnings capability.
Get rid of your junk
Sell it, don’t ignore it or throw it. If you don’t already have an EBay Account, get one going, and while you’re at it get PayPal going too, a good way to buy and sell that facilitates payments. It makes it all so much easier to trade like a professional and have a “credit pot” to accumulate your earnings which is readily accessible. Why have these? We all have items of yesterday’s needs no longer used or needed.
They take up space in our lives and often produce clutter, so if you get organised and regularly put them up for sale on EBay, any return you get gives you more for today’s needs. Obviously the higher the value of goods the more you can aim to achieve but just about anything can be sold – “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure” and your unused treasures could well be another person’s dream!
Grow your money
Even in these times be on the look-out for sound opportunities to grow your money with investments, even if it is just getting the best rates available from banks. From any small beginning you can start a pot and, as it grows, any percentage return that you get will mean extra dollars made.
Have a goal and stick to it without extracting your money until it is achieved and there are many bank products that will help you get organised for this. See an accredited financial planner and talk through the options. At the very least you will understand better your living budget and spend accordingly. Minimise your debts to minimise the interest you are paying whilst seeing what gain you can get from your own money. Money makes money.
