The cornerstone of being frugal is maximising your reward points and always seeking a discount before making a purchase.
To do this, it pays dividends to become a loyalty member of the store you intend to buy from. Stores offer you discounts, specials and loyalty points to shop with them more frequently – in exchange for building a profile around you as a customer.
Stores have two goals with loyalty programs;
- To make you a sticky (repeat) customer
- To gather data on your shopping behaviour to design bespoke offers and incentives to further enhance point number one.
This means that in order to save maximum money when shopping, you need to carry a range of loyalty cards with you to scan at checkout. This often results in wallets and purses being bloated, hard to manage and inconveniently heavy due to the sheer volumes of plastic within.
Here is the only mobile app you will need to manage your loyalty cards. No more physical plastic.
What is the Stocard app?
Stocard scans your loyalty cards, digitises the barcode (or membership number) and stores it on your phone with a beautiful picture of the card itself – making it easy to locate and use the next time you need to scan it, either in-store or online.
The stocard app is helping you reduce the number of loyalty cards you have in your wallet; it’s also making it much easier to manage your loyalty memberships (given it removes the number one burden of loyalty programs; carrying the plastic card and remembering to use it).
You now have the ability to join hundreds of loyalty programs, without the hassle of remembering (or having) to carry the physical piece of plastic.
How does Stocard work?
Stocard is simple to use.
Simply download the mobile app and start adding your loyalty and reward cards. Stocard provides an extensive list of major retailers, enabling you to quickly select > scan (via a photograph) and then save your loyalty cards with the simple click of a + icon.
Creating an account is optional and you also have the ability to lock Stocard and require a fingerprint to access (should security be a concern for you).
If your loyalty card has a barcode
The stocard app will prompt you to photograph the card; this will scan the barcode and create a digital version of your card within the app.
If your loyalty card does not have a barcode, but instead a membership number
Stocard will prompt you to enter your membership number. You can also take a photograph of the card, to ensure you have a digital version of it should a retailer ever ask to see it.
Once you’ve added your loyalty cards to the Stocard app
Each time you open the Stocard app, you will see a full list of your loyalty cards. The loyalty cards within Stocard are sorted by most commonly used; this gives you a ‘quick draw’ given 99% of the time you will only be using the top two or three cards.
Benefits of using Stocard
Minimise your wallet or purse with Stocard. Stop storing plastic loyalty cards and bulking out your wallet. Stocard will reduce your wallet or purse immediately; allowing you to stay clutter-free and super organised.
Always have the right loyalty card with Stocard. Never again will you be at the checkout without your loyalty card available and nor will you have the awkward 30-second purse rummage to locate the right loyalty card.
Earn maximum loyalty points with Stocard. Every single purchase you make can now reward you; there is no excuse not to have the correct loyalty card ready to go. You’ll also accumulate more points by avoiding the awkward rummage mentioned above, which often results in people giving up out of embarrassment in the checkout queue.
Leverage the wider family to maximise points when using Stocard. Stocard lets you have the same loyalty card (or membership) in multiple family members phones. This means you can have the kids, hubby, wife or even the pesky inlaws using the one loyalty card to maximise points.

Stocard app review
I’ve been using the Stocard app for a little over six months now and have become very impressed with this little app. I’ve been meaning to do a Stocard review for some time. I am regularly scanning my loyalty card while the cashier is putting through my items – making it efficient, non-awkward and super simple to maximise my reward points.
Since starting to use Stocard app, I’ve accumulated roughly 10x more points across my main retailers (Woolworths, Coles and a few others) due to the ease of the app and the fact I was consistently forgetting to bring the loyalty card itself (given my wallet only holds a few cards).
Stocard has become one of my most used apps. It meets all of my needs; it helps me further my minimalist quest, stay organised and earn free stuff for purchases I was already intending to make.
Overall a fantastic app; 5/5 stars.
This is an essential money saving app for anyone trying to maximise their reward points, get discounts and stay organised. Well done Stocard Australia.
