Percentage increase calculator
You will notice that this percentage calculator allows you to calculate the percentage increase or decrease of a specific number. This means you can find out how much a number increases or decreases as a concise percentage amount.
As an example, you could calculate the percentage increase or decrease of a certain product you want to buy. If a product was reduced in price, from say $50 to $30, you could calculate the percentage decrease in price to assess the actual discount you are getting.
Example scenario of calculating the percentage increase/decrease
So for example; you find an item you wish to buy in store, for a price tag of $50. You then find it online. Using the percentage increase calculator (the 3rd row in the calculator) you simply enter the starting figure of 50, followed by the new figure of 30.
The result is -40. That means you are getting a 40% discount OFF the original price. This is a percentage decrease.
A percentage increase would simply be done in reverse. Add the original number first, followed by the new number. So previously milk cost you $2, now it costs $3.
Enter $2 as the starting price, followed by $3 as the new price. The result is 50%. This means that the price of milk has gone up 50 percent.
This is also called the percentage off or percentage difference calculator. A great tool to help your save money.
Calculate the percentage of a certain number
You will also notice the first line of the percentage calculator; it lets you calculate what the percentage of a certain number is.
For instance, someone might ask you to pay them 25% of an invoice. The invoice is $876, an odd number that is rather confusing to calculate percentages with.
Simply use the first line of the percentage calculator and input 25(%) of ($)876. It will then tell you exactly what 25% of the number is – in this case, it is 219. Easy.
Calculate what percentage a number is (of another number)
The tool also allows you to calculate what percentage one number is of another number. For instance, you might need to know what 50 is as a percentage of say 250.
Simply go to line two, enter 50 is what percentage of 250 and hit calculate. The answer will be: 20%
