We spend a lot of our income on paying electricity bills. We should be a bit curious about saving electricity and thus save money. I have taken steps in this direction and phased out my incandescent bulbs and replaced with CFL’s. This will save me a few bucks.

First on 250 volt lighting remove existing light bulbs and replace with LED lights you will save up to 80% on your lighting bill.

Or you could simply install 12-volt LED lights through your home. Install a small solar panel (say 40 w) and a 12-volt car battery. This will give you free lighting. LED lights use only a fraction of the power of other lighting. A 2-watt LED light gives the same amount of lighting as a 20-watt normal light bulb.

You can also simply plug an extension lead into your vehicles trailer plug and run your house 12 volt LED lights from your vehicles battery.

If you really want to save money on home power why not generate your own. Many people around the world are doing it see (http://homemadeelectricity.blogspot.com/) and not only does it save you money it is good for the environment too!

There are two ways to save money on your electricity bills:

(1) use less electricity by following some of the tips already mentioned above (this is also good for the environment as it reduces your carbon footprint); and

(2) choose an electricity supplier that charges you less for the electricity you actually use. I have found an Australian comparison site that helps you to find cheaper electricity prices – take a look at http://www.switchwise.com.au

Every dollar counts.
