Persoanlly after 5 different tries with AAMI , on insurance for a MAzda 6 and Landcruiser, (fully comp) and then even the recent CTP.

They have FAILED to be competitive. I have a perfect driving record and I am very surprised. I get my insurance through CUNA (through credit unions) for comp, save $331 on any AAMI quote.

There CTP for my Cruiser was $667 , QBE were $495. NRMA $678. I just cant understand why people find them good.

I got the best third party quote through CUNA as well.

Ok thats my 2 cents, no more time online getting quotes from AAMI, never again!!!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Alex.

To answer your question, there are different types of claims. Bear in mind that I'm a simple marketing person and not a claims expert, but I'll do my best to explain.

Because the other driver didn't leave their details and you needed to claim on your AAMI insurance, you don't have a claim free record. Given the circumstances you describe, it may be deemed a 'not at fault' claim and have little or no bearing on your premium or rating with AAMI.

An 'at fault' claim means you were directly responsible.

With Bingle, you would need to declare it when going through the quote process. Remember, it's only one of the factors in calculating insurance premiums, and even if you've had the misfortune of having to make a claim, you may still be able to save big dollars.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your comment, it's great to see some more information on how it is that Bingle Car Insurance manages to cut costs and pass them back onto consumer savings.

My car was recently in a little bingle itself, when I came home from work to find someone had reversed into the back of the car, leaving damage that I then went through AAMI to fix as the driver never left a note.

Does that mean that I am also claim free because I was not at fault?

Thanks!

Alex

I am the Executive Manager, Marketing for Bingle.

Bingle are a low cost, online car insurer. With Bingle, you buy and manage your policy online, and becuase it's all DIY, we pass on the cost savings to customers.

Another way Bingle help people save money is by giving the best price to good drivers. People who are claims free for the past few years, and drive fairly regular cars are the best risk and cheapest to insure. If you're one of them, you could save hundreds of dollars.

And yes, Bingle are underwritten by AAMI, and our repairs come with a lifetime guarantee.
