I am guilty of having a lead foot. I drive a Ford Falcon and the petrol consumption is OK when I drive the car smoothly, but when I put my foot down I can end up doing 60Litres per 100KM (so my fuel gauge says!!)

I wish I could just buy a smart car to save money on petrol but can't bring myself to buy one for Australian roads...they are just to bumpy and long for such a little noddy car!

I roll down hills to save money on petrol and also ensure that I drive in the left lane, that way I avoid speeding and using more petrol.

As petrol prices increase I am worried about whether or not I can afford to run a car and pay a premium for petrol.

In the UK they pay over 1.5 pounds per litre for petrol, thats over $3AUD!!

I liked the information you gave about using tolls to save money and petrol, its interesting to think about when you calculate the costs. The Australian government will have to find a new solution for toll costs at that rate.
