GE Money Australia has just released a new credit card called the GE Eco Mastercard in the hope of capturing the demographic of carbon emissions aware credit users wanting to have a line of credit that rewards them for spending by looking after the environment.

The GE Eco Mastercard will allow users to offset their spending via an emission reduction scheme aimed at saving the environment - a scheme which Savings Guide Australia are 100% behind. We like multi tasking in life and believe that we all will inevitably have a credit card so why not have one that help’s the environment while you are at it?

What is the GE Eco Mastercard?

A credit card that allows its users to minimise their carbon footprint left by spending money on credit cards. Around 1% of purchases are put towards environmentally aware projects to help the environment - along with purchasing tree’s to reduce emissions.

  • 0% balance transfer rate for previous credit cards.
  • Unique reward - donate 1% o purchase spend to reduce carbon emissions, or donate 0.5% and receive 0.5% cash back
  • Purchase rate of 18.49% p.a. with up to 55 days interest free on purchases (bit high but as long as you pay off in full each month you will be fine)
  • Annual fee of $49
