Default Who do you have Car Insurance with?

After hunting around for car insurance, I am prepared to say that AAMI has by far become the cheapest car insurance company I can find for my circumstances.

This lead me to wonder what car insurance companies other people are using?

In the past I have used;
  1. Just Car Insurance
  2. NRMA Insurance
  3. Swann Insurance
  4. AAMI Insurance
If you don't mind sharing, I would love to know your age and gender and the amount that your car premium is.

I am in my 20's and am a male, paying $800 a year for a Subaru.

I use AAMI car insurance as well. Their rates are pretty good and I have a permanent no-claim bonus for life - does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of claims you can make under a no-claim bonus scheme? You'd think infinite but then again, everything has strings attached these days.

I'm in my early 30s, male and pay around the mid $600 mark each year for my car insurance premium.

Default Saving on Car Insurance

Hi Darren,

I too am with AAMI insurance for my car insurance.

I have the no claim discount also, but the problem with it is that if you do make a claim and switch insurance companies, you must legally let the company know that you had a claim - which means your premium will go up!

I think the 'catch' on this type of no claim bonus scheme is that you basically have to stick with AAMI Car Insurance for atleast another 5 years until the claim is off your record!

I've got AAMI too, I paid I think a bit over $500 a year. I'm 22 and have a Mitsubishi Verada - having a car with lots of safety features brought down the premium a bit, so I thought it was worth the initial outlay I made on the car, since I not only have a safe car but one that's cheap to insure too.

Car Insurance providers also put alot of emphasis on gender - I know for a fact that women get heavily less expensive premiums then men.

Statistically, men are more likely to have an accident.
