Look at the new prices for crossing the bridge, basically I will have to pay $4.00 a day to cross the one bridge unless I want to drive to work before 6.30am! Time of day tolling (tolls): 6.30am - 9.30am = $4.00 9.30am - 4.00pm = $3.00 4.00pm - 7.00pm = $4.00 7.00pm - 6.30am = $2.50 Public Holiday: 8.00am - 8.00pm = $3.00 8.00pm - 8.00am = $2.50 What is everyone elses thoughts on paying a toll for a bridge that was paid off over 10 years ago and serves only as a revenue raiser? I would like to get to work at 6.30am but believe I would very quickly get tired of early starts with late finishes!

What frustrates me is that the Harbour tolls are only for southbound traffic, not rebatable as some other tolls are across Sydney, and now cost more for the vast, vast majority of users.
Tolls are unfortunately so difficult to avoid, but sometimes the money cost is by far the preferable option to the potential cost to your mental state sitting in traffic trying to go around them! Do other states have things like this? What do you do to get around them? I get the bus to work which costs more than $50/week, but driving to work would cost $20 in tolls alone a week plus petrol, parking, wear on the car etc. |
