Costco Wholesale Shopping and Bulk Buying

Costco is an American company trading in Australia that offers discounted and wholesale prices on everyday shopping items. Recently Costco have opened their doors in Australia and will begin their expansion plans to help cater for the growing market of wholesale shopping and bulk buying.

Wholesale grocery buying is renowned for helping people save money on groceries, Costco buys in bulk at discounted rates and in turn sells the products back to the consumers with a massive price advantage that until now has not been seen by Australian grocery stores like Coles or Woolworths.

What is Costco?

Costco works on a warehouse premise and has one of the largest and most exclusive product selections of any major supermarket or shopping chain. Products carried by Costco include; groceries, confectionary, appliances, television and media, automotive supplies, tyres, toys, hardware, sporting goods, jewellery, watches, cameras, books, housewares, apparel, health and beauty aids, tobacco, furniture, office supplies and office equipment.

Costco is known for carrying top quality national and regional brands, at prices consistently below traditional wholesale or retail outlets.

How does Costco work?

Costco works as an exclusive cash and carry style of shopping experience. This means that it is membership based, but the savings you will get from the store far outweigh the small investment in a 12 month membership.

There are two kinds of memberships; Costco Business Membership and Costco Gold Star Membership. We will look at the Gold Star membership as this is what will work for everyday families and individuals.

Costco Gold Start Membership

A gold star membership is $60 annually at the time of writing. It is for individuals who do not qualify for the business membership mentioned above, though the business membership only seems to be $5.00 less, so no big deal. To get the membership you need to supply your drivers license or proof of age as identity.
