6 Month CTP Greenslip to Save Money
The RTA has recently allowed for a new kind of CTP Greenslip, that of a 6 month policy rather then 12months.
In the past, CTP Greenslips were only available in 12 month purchases – but as of November 2008, you now have the option of buying a greenslip that lasts for only 6months.
This only applies to cars and light trucks, while trailers can now also get 3month intervals as of this date.
I personally sold my car around 5 months ago, and it fell right on the rego date and CTP Greenslip date – meaning I had to spend over $500 on CTP and Rego only to sell the car 3 days later. Waste of money!
6 Month CTP Greenslip
The only way to apply for a CTP Greenslip that is 6 months or 3 months (for trailers) is by using the myrta.com website or by calling 1300 360 782.
Renewal for CTP Greenslips less than 12 months is not allowed in the RTA offices, it must strictly be done online. The dates of your greenslip should match how long you have on your rego, so if you are going to sell your car in 6 months or less, why not go for a rego/CTP for 6months instead of 12 months?
