Earnings surpise can raise or lower stock prices. When a stock that was expected to yield higher earns lower, people tend to want to get rid of the stock and start to sell which brings down its value . When a stock earns higher than expected the value of the stock will inrcease.

Mergers and acquisitions dilute share prices . Low price stocks are pulled up by their dilution with high price stocks while high price stocks are pulled down by the low price stocks.

I am absolutely cluless to what is and how the Sharemarket operates. Can you suggest any websites that may give me a better understanding of not only how to invest but what it is exactly im doing and the various things that effect the market.
A site that uses plain english would be good, Im a beginner remember.
Kind Regards
